Chenghai - Is It Worth A Visit?

I am visiting Shantou next month, Nov, 2014.

Is it worth the time to make a visit to Chenghai. I know Chenghai is well town known for its manufacture of toys and knitted woolens, but I would like to find out if there are any interesting cultural or historical sites worth the trouble of making a trip there.
