apply for china visa in mongolia?

Hello, wondering if I can apply (usa) for an S2 or tourist L while visiting Ulaan Batar in Mongolia since my China tourist L will expire and I need to stay longer since my husband is working here. I have already extended once for 30 days. While trying to apply here for S2 they mentioned that I will probably have to go back to the USA to apply. Thanks!!!

If the officer in the embassy tell you that you cannot get a S2 in Mongolia, you cannot do that. Maybe you can try to apply for a new Tourist L for going back to China. Tourist L may be possible.
