About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US citizen arriving at airport to catch a cruise ship to Japan...do I qualify for the 72-hour?

I will arrive via airplane but leave via ship. I will be in country <48 hours Can I do the 72 hour visa free? If so, what is involved in getting the pass?

Since you will fly to reach and take a cruise to leave, so you cannot enjoy the 72-hour policy. This policy is only available for those who make international transfer by flights.

If you stay within 24 hours, you can apply for a stay permit to leave the port. You just need to fill a simple bank and show them your valid passport to get the permit at the port. If it is over 24 hours, you need to apply for a Transit G in advance.
