how to check stays of application of visa?

Question

I dropped off an application one week ago. The office asked me to wait for telephone call, but did not give me any expected timeline. How shall I ask for status? If it will take much longer, I cannot visit China due to work schedule. Is there any way to cancel the application and get my passport back? Do I still need to pay for fee?

Lin, normally the application is dealt with in four to five working days. You can go there on the fourth or fifth working day to get back your passport. If your application is granted, you will get your visa too.
