You just want to take your daughter to go to China?
If so, at least you should apply a Tourist L for her. If she wants to stay for long time, she can apply for a Q type if her mother has her ID card and Chinese passport.

We keep getting consular/visa feedback saying we need a travel permit. Worried that there may be a problem in leaving China because baby's birth was registered there?
Thanks for the info so far-----

Hi, you are suggested to go to the local embassy/consulate to consult whether you can give up the Chinese nationality. After you give up the Chinese nationality, she can apply for a Chinese L/Q in Canada.

Since the baby was registered in China, the Chinese government consider her to have a Chinese nationality, so she must give up it before applying.

Maybe you can have a try.

Hi--As we have decided with help from here that going to the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver is necessary, would appreciate input from anyone who has been there recently.
Questions--can we make an appointment?
Parking ?Waiting times?
Baby's Mom doesn't drive, I (Grandpa) need to take them from Sunshine Coast. Ferry factors, Grandma with Alzheimer's all take time, so any way we can save some is good..
This forum has helped us a lot, thanks for any advice----Harv

Hi, from what your saying, you may close to the Consulate in Vancouver, right?

If so, no appointment is required since there is no such kind of requirements from the website. If you go there durig their working time, you will not need to wait for a long time. Their address is 3380 Granville Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3K3. For the paking information, sorry for unclear.

Personally speaking, you can contact the consulate in advance to ask for more details about it. After all are clear enough, you can go there to handle easily and fast.

Thanks , Lily--Apparently the consulate office we need to attend is at #299A-1595 Broadway, Vancouver. I've talked with the Visa Office at 250-999 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, they all say the same, but only phone contact with consul is from 3: to 5: PM, and they don't answer, tried a few times. All the addresses are fairly close together, so guess we'll try to get there early & play it by ear. It's about a 3 hour trip from here, counting the ferry, so it will be an all day one total.
There seem to have been some recent changes in locations--how old is your experience with them? Thanks again for your interest---Harv
