Meeting relations at airport during flight connecting time

We are connecting at Beijing airport on route from UK to Manila. My son is working in Beijing and we wish to meet with him for a meal for 2 hours. Do we need visa? Is there any way of meeting without need for visa?

If you keep staying in the airport you do not need the visa, you can have the meal in airport. If you want to go out of the airport, you can apply a stay permit at the airport. It is not difficult to get.
