train from guilin to southern chinese city and then ferry to hainan?

You can take the train from Guilin to Guangzhou and then ferry to Haikou, Hannan. Also, you can take a train from Guangzhou to Haikou as well.

is there a train from guilin to another city and then a ferry to hainan? looking at map it seems like there are other cities closer by than guangzhou.

You can go from Guilin to Beihai first and then ferry to Haikou, Hainan. And you can also go from Guilin to Zhanjiang and then take a coach to Haian County and finally ferry to Haikou, Hainan.
