Can the invitation letter be e mailed or faxed to me?

Do I need the original copy. I am booking flights and wondering will I have the invitation letter in time to apply for my visa.

It depends on the embassy. In most cases, printed or faxed invitation letter is ok. However, sometimes the embassy may ask the applicants to provide the original version sometimes.
