Any idea what transport to take fr Guangzhou to Shenzhen? How long is the journey?

The high speed train from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Shenzhen North Railway Station may be the best method and the train takes around 30 minutes.
Or you can take a bullet train from GZu East Railway Station to Shenzhen Railway Station in Luohu area and the train takes around one hour and a half.3
