US passport holder staying in France for month want to apply visa to visit China

Hello,
i am a us citizen staying in france for long vacation and want to visit PRC, 2 cities for 4 nights. I only have my passport with me is there anything else I need to apply for L type. I left my drivers license at home and other proof of address.
