Farnaz, you should apply from Chinese embassy in Cyprus since you live there. In your situation, you should apply for a X type. If you study longer than 180 days, you should appy for a X1 type. It requires your passport, application form, a recent passport style photo, JW202 form, admission letter from the Chinese university and your legal residence permit in Cyprus. For your husband, he needs to provide his passport, application form, a recent passport photo, round-trip air tickets and hotel reservation in mainland China. Also, his legal residence permit in Cyprus is required.

Here is another way. You may go to China first and then send him an invitation letter. Then he needn't provide the air tickets and hotel reservation.

I am wondering because they said me: “We can not accept your application. You need to go back to your origin country to apply.”

If the local Chinese embassy does not accept your application, you may need to go back to your own country for applying. There is not better method to do.
