Do I need my son's birth certificate or a copy of it to visit him in Shanghai?

I am visiting my son in Shanghai for four days as a tourist. He is working in Shanghai and has sent me a letter of invitation together with a copy of his visa and passport to submit with my application for a my Tourist Type. He has his birth certificate with him. Do I need a copy of his birth certificate?

Since you just go there for four days as a tourist, his birth certificate is not needed for application.

You can only use the invitation letter you son gives, his proof of legal status in China together with other documents he sent to you for applying.
