About:Simatai Great Wall

Hiking between Jinshanling and Simatai possible now?

We are going at the beginning of October - does anyone know if it's possible to do the hiking between those 2?

Juliane, it's impossible to hike between these two sections now. According to what I find, there are guards who patrol on the wall. They won't allow passenger to hike.

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply! Which part of the Chinese Wall would you then recommend? We would like to avoid the big tourist masses so Badaling is out of question, but we would like to do some hiking as well as enjoy nice scenary. Thanks for your help!

Jinshanling, Mutianyu or Simatai Sections is worth a visit. There are not too many tourists.

We plan to hike between Jinshaning and Simatai. Then, the following day we will go to Huanghuacheng Lakeside. Hopefully the weather will be ok. Last year when we went on to the Mutianyu portion of the wall, there was a lot of people and the fog hung low so you could only see about 1km or less. It was impossible to the splendor of the wall like on a sunny day.
