78 hours for transit? What do we do

From the predicted landing to flying out we are in Beijing for approx 78hrs? do we need to be concerned? does it matter in we are in the Airport or the city itself as in if we kill 2 hours upon arrival and then arrive 4hrs before our flight is that considered 72HRS?

Personally speaking, it is considered as 72-hours. I had the similar situation in Chengdu airport and I got the stay permit to leave the airport easily. For Beijing, I think it is similar, but you are still suggested to contact the immigration in the airport for confirming again.
