Does the invitation letter need to be officially stamped?

They still accept letters even if it is faxed or printed out correct? Do they just need to see the stamp? Also, i have seen on multiple websites different documents I need for Type L. What are the correct documentations for the Type L?

According to the embassy, faxed or printed invitation letter is ok. However, sometimes the embassy requires the original version. Normally, the invitation letter should include:
1. the invitee's personal information: name, gender and date of birth
2. the invitee's schedule: when to arrive, when to leave and where to visit and stay
3. the inviter's information: name, tel, address, signature. In your BF's situation, he may also ask his school to stamp on the invitation letter.
