72 Hour visa free stay in Shanghai?

I am traveling on round trip tickets from USA to Taiwan, staying in Taiwan for 3 weeks. During the second week of my stay in Taiwan can I book a 72 hour free trip to Shanghai by round trip from Taipei, Taiwan?

It is not allowed to enjoy the 72-hour free transit for a round trip.
So if you fly from Taipei to Shanghai for a visit and then back to Taipei, you cannot enjoy the 72-hour free transit.

If you really want to both Shanghai and Taipei and want to enjoy this service, you are suggested to fly to Shanghai first (staying 72 hours) and then fly to Taipei for your rest of days.
