Hi, would you mind tell me which country's passport do you have?
If you have a USA passport, you can use only your passport to enter HK and stay there for 90 days. If you want to stay longer than 90 days, you need to apply in advance. You can apply through your nearby consulate.
For the detail information, you may search for more information on the official website of HK Immigration Department.

The nearby consulate you can sumbit your application is the consulate in Chicago. If you cannot contact them, you can also choose to apply through mails by sending your documents to Immigration Department in HK.
For application, you still need to provide your bank statement if you have.
