Z Visa process for company in China

I've been asked by the company I'm about to work for to post some documents (including a non-criminal record, CV, degree certificate and proof of past work experience) to them in China. They have told that the next step is where they send me the required documents for me to apply at the visa application centre in my home country. However, having worked for a school in China on a Z type before, I remember that then I didn't have to post them any documents, as mentioned above.

Is this the correct and quickest possible process?

All those documents are needed for the company to apply a work permit in China.
After they got the work permit, they will send it you. Then you can use the work permit and an invitation letter to apply for a Z type to work in China.

What the company tell you is correct. So please do not worry and provide the documents they need.
