How long can I stay in China with my work permit already cancelled by my previous employer?

I am on a work and residencce permit but I left my job and is currently looking for a new one.

Henrietta, your employer just cancelled your work permit. However, your residence permit is still valid. So you can stay until your residence permit expires. And you can't work until you find a new employer and apply for a new work permit. The worst result is that your previous employer informs your situation to the local PSB and local PSB cancels your residence permit for employment. In this situation, you will be required to leave China.
