I am an australian citizen, i am currently travelling in Vietnam , how long does it take for a 90 day China tourist type to clear at the Ho Chi Minh City Embassy ?

Usually, the processing days are around 4 working days. According to my experience, you can apply for a 90-day one, but it is not assured that you can get it in the end. The embassy has the final right to decide your stay of duration. Anyway, you can have a try.
