Tipping on a customised tour for a couple.

I have read that $10 per day for Guides and Driver is appropriate, but
(1) Do I give this to each person, or is a collective amount?
(2) How do I hand this over without awkwardness? In an envelope as we leave for another city?
(3) To the Guide or the Driver?
(4) What is the best way to also include any extra for a special service / assistance to make sure the "right' person gets it?
(5) Can a gift be also given - but should it be wrapped?
Thank you for any and all advice, in advance.

1. Usually, you need to tip them separately. Usually, CNY10-20 for each is fine.
2. It is not awkward at all. No envelope is needed. Just hand them over the money.
3. Both of them.
4. Since you wanna make sure that the right person gets your tip, give the one you are more satisfied with more. In this case, the other won't complain.
5. It depends on you. If you really are satisfied with the service of the driver or the guide, you can present him or her a gift and you would be friends.

Thank you Nelly. Could you reconfirm the amount you recommend be given to the Guide and the Driver. Is this per person per day?

Yes, I agree with Nelly. CNY10 is usually for driver and CNY20 is for driver per person per day. However, there are several people traveling with you, each of you may tip them, as I saw from many tour groups.
