flighting from amsterdam to shanghai and take another flight to singapore

I'm from holland and i'm flighting from amsterdam to Zurich to shanghai to singapore. And I booked separated flights from shanghai to singapore, so I think that I have to go to customs to get my luggage and check in again. My question is do i need a visa in shanghai to flight through to singapore or can i apply a 72 hour entry permit at shanghai airport?

You mean your flight trip is Amsterdam - Shanghai - Singpapore - Zurich?
If so, you only need to apply for a stay permit stamp on your passport to get out of the airport, if your staying time in Shanghai is no more than 72 hours.
You need to tell your airline from Amsterdam to Shanghai that you want to enjoy the 72-hour free transit. Then upon arrival, you can apply for the stay permit with your valid passport, your ticket to Singapore at the immigration in Shanghai airport.
