Hi , Can I do USA- Shanghai -Zhangjiajie -Beijing , flighting from Beijing to Hong Kong - USA

Also do you know what info do we need to provide to the airline in USA to not get any trouble when boarding the plane to china.

Hi Karlos, your itinerary is perfectly eligible for China 240-hour visa-free transit. When boarding, your US passport and the flight ticket from Beijing to Hong Kong may be checked. When applying for the transit permit upon landing in Shanghai, they may be checked again. But it won't take too long. Welcome and have fun~
