About:Beijing Capital Airport T3

9-hour layover at Beijing Capital Airport

I have a U.S. passport. I have a 9-hour layover: arrive from Singapore to PEK at 6:10 am and depart PEK at 3:40pm to go back to the U.S. What is the step-by-step process for me to go into BJ for a few hours? Do I get a temporary visa stamp at customs? How long does that take? I am flying Air China. When I come back to the airport, do I need to check in again? I only have a carry-on bag. When should I come back to the airport for my 3:40pm flight? How long does security take at PEK?

Upon landing, you can easily apply for a transit permit in the airport. As long as you are eligible for the poplicy, it takes no more than 10min to get it. Then with the permit, you are allowed to leave the airport for your BJ trip.

May I know if you will use Air China for the whole trip? If so, you may not need to check in again for your flight back, especially you only have carry-on bag. Anyway, you are still advised to confirm your airline about this issue.

Yes, I am arriving in BJ from Singapore on Air China, and flying out of Beijing to the U.S. on Air China. How long is the immigration/security line on the way back? What is the latest I can be back at the airport to get to my gate for my 3:40pm flight? How long is the drive from the airport to the Mutianyu part of the Great Wall?

You may need spend around an hour for the immigration/secuirty line before taking off, so you are advised to get back to the airport 1.5-2h in advance in case. It is almost 60km from the airport to Mutianyu, so it takes around an hour to arrive by car.
