can we stay at Thousand Island one night

I am planning to go Qiaodaohu from Shanghai via Hangzhou. I will leave Shanghai on Friday Morning, will explore hangZhou on that day, afternoon of next day, we will take a bus to Thousand Island to spend a night over there. is it recommended with wife and a Kid.
Do I need to reserve the bus journey or should I purchase at spot?
