It is said that during the construction of the Great Wall, when the labours died they were buried beneath the Wall. No date says how many people.  But it is ture that many people died of building the wall.

I know your question was posted 10 yrs ago but thought I would try a reply. I have heard a story about 10000 people being buried there. Apparently, the workers (slaves), were always saying. 10000 people will die building this wall. The reigning emperor got sick of hearing this, so ordered that 10,000 were to be killed and buried in/under the wall. Then the emperor said  the 10,000 are dead, stop moaning and get back to work.    May be the same you heard?
