I think I have already known tht you from from USA, however I mean where do you leave for from Chengdu?If you leave Chengdu for another international country or region, you can get out of the airport during your stay, otherwise, you cannot.After I know where you will go from Chengdu, I can check whether you are qualified for the policy.

If you will fly to Kathmandu from Chengdu, you can enjoy the 72-hour free transit, so that you can in the hotel for 9 hours. If you will fly to Tibet, the policy is not applicable to you and you need to apply for a single entry tourist L type for visiting.
