About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Priority of permit choice for the immigration at the Beijing airport (Alex)

Hi everyone,

I am flying HK- Beijing and want to stay under 72 hours between flights. Then fly to Russia.
I am planning to come back to China in several days and use my 1-entry visa to travel to Xian, Nanjing and Shanghai. Will the officer grant a 72-hour permit on the initial entry to Beijing noticing that I also have a 1-entry type? Can I ask for a grant of the 72-hour permit instead of using the 1 - entry one? Will the 1 - entry one be used automatically at default on the initial entry to Beijing from HK?

Reason is savings on getting a 2-entry type. Thank you

Usually, after they notice you have already get a single-entry one, they probably will not grant you a 72-stay permit. But some people say if you tell the officer that you want to enjoy the 72-hour free transit policy, they will not stamp on your unused single entry one.

So it is still suggested to consult the Exit-Entry Department in Beijing airport for asking and their phone number is 0086-10-56095400.
