What visa to apply for?

Hello,

My wife is Teaching in China with a 'Z' type, however I am in Pakistan and I want to go and stay with her for the duration of her employment (1 year).
What type should i apply for and what documents are needed?

You can try to apply for S1 with your valid passport, application form with recent taken photos, the invitation letter from the school you wife working in, invitationl letter from your wife, photocopy of your wife's passport and her residence permit, your marriage certificate and Physical Examination Record for Foreigner attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

Also, it seems those with a Pakistani Passport are exempt from application fees to Mainland China for up to 30 days. Would it be possible for me to go China and apply for the S1 type from there?

It is free to apply for a Chinese one for pakistan nationals. You cannot apply a S1 in China, but you can only apply it in your own country.
