x-visa application, do i need to book a place before going there?

Question

Hi,I am planning to go to Beijing soon to study for less than 6 months that means I need X1. However i still have not booked any accommodation as everyone advised me to personally go and finalize the room. But I am confused because I need to apply and I am not sure what I am supposed to fill in the section 2.6 Itinerary in China (in time sequence，may type on separate paper) ? I will be grateful for your reply. Thanks

You should apply for X2 type if you study less than six months. It just requires an adimission letter from the school. I didn't hear that accommodation should be booked in advance. In section 2.6, you may write down your study duration and location. I think this is ok.
