visiting Shanghai from Hong Kong with US passport

Hi, I will be in Hong Kong for 10 days but I want to visit Shanghai during my trip. I was planning on buying a ticket to Shanghai from Hong Kong for 3 days. I will be flying back to Hong Kong from Shanghai. Am I eligible for the 72 hr free entry?

Also, Xiamen does not have any special exemptions for short stays for US passport holders, correct?

Michelle, where will you head for after you stay in Shanghai? If you fly HK-SHanghai-US, you can enjoy 72 hours free transit. Yes, there is no special exemption. You should apply for a visa in advance if you plan to visit Xiamen.
