picking up an l visa 2 weeks after submition

Question

I live far away from an embassy and it is very inconvenient to stay in Chicago for many days waiting on my L type.  Can I submit my passport, money, and forms, have it confirmed as valid 4 days later, and then pick it up 14 days after I submitted it?  This way I would know everything is correct and I can just pick up it on the way to the airport.  Thank you for any answers!

Yes, you can do that. Before picking-up, you can even call the consulate-general in Chicago for confirming it, so that you will not waste your time.
