changing from L to X2 visa whilst in China

Hi,

I'm currently travelling in China but have been accepted to a scholarship programme In Shandong. My problem is that my present one expires on the 19th and i had hoped to apply to get a new 6 month X2 whilst here but after contacting the university they said i would need to return to my home country to issue the X2. Do you know if there is any way around this? returning to my home country will cost a small fortune and the course is only for one semester. I spoke to some universities in Shanghai and they said i could do it but shandong said no so I'm confused. worse case scenario could i got to HK to have it done? Thank you hugely

According to the policy, you need to go back to the your own country for applying to make sure that you can get your X2 smoothly and easily.

Changing L to X2 is not available unless you can find some agency to help you to do it. You can try to apply in HK, but it is not asured that you can get it in the end.

Personally speaking, if it is not so pricy, you are suggested to go back to your country for applying.
