You cannot enter HK with your visa to China. No visa is required for entering China if you do not want to stay there for more than 90 days. So you can enter HK with your passport and then re-enter China.

Thank you Gorden...I already have the Chinese Visa and I need to leave the country as my 30 days are nearly up so I just needed clarification that HK would qualify as leaving China before I then re-entered?

Yes, HK is qualified and many people did as you want. Please do not worry.
