About:China Consulate in Houston

Can X1 Visa be submitted by mail to consulate?

My son will be an exchange student in Shanghai, he has the paperwork completed for his X1. Can he submit this by mail to the Houston Consulate?

Mail is not accepted for the consulate. If he cannot go, he can ask a person to handle the paperworks as his representative or ask a tour agency to do it for him. If possible, it is suggested to go on himself.

Thanks for the response. If he flies to Houston to appear in person, will the consulate send the completed paperwork back to him. Or does he have to make a second trip to Houston to pick it up?

Usually, the processing days are around four working days, so he can take the paperwork back four working days later.
If he does not plan to stay i Houston to pick it, he my need to make a second trip to pick up or ask someone to pick up for him as represetative.
