About:China Visa

Does this itinerary qualify for a visa free stopover?

We are US citizens traveling to Thailand and want to stopover in Chengdu for 2 days before returning home to the US. Is this allowed for the free waiver program if we fly directly BKK-CTU and CTU-SFO on our return flight home? Thanks!
