naadam festival accommodation

Question

Hello,I am hoping to travel from Shenyang to Gegentala Grassland for Nadam this year. I am hoping it will be happening over the 28th to 30th of July. My question is whether it is possible to bring a tent and stay on my own on the grasslands, to avoid paying the cost of an organised tour? Another option would be to stay in a hotel in The area, without returning to Hohhot, but as there is no information online, I am not sure this is possible. Thanks

The Nadam festival on Gegentala Grasslan will be held around July 25 to July 31 every year, so I think your traveling time is the best time.For the camping issue, I am not very clear. Few visitors will do it, unless you can get permission. Actually, if you just go there to pick up a yurt to stay, you can also aviod the high costs from some organized tour. On the grassland, hostels and yurts can very easy to be found and those are great places for staying.
