About:China Customs Declaration

Does custom allowance of US$ 5000 include both US$ and RMB combined? Is it per person or per family.

No, you can take as much as 5000 USD and 20000 RMB at most when you exit or enter China. The amount of USD and CNY are not calculated together. The limit is per person.
