Weekend trip to Xian

My friend and I are interested in a one-day trip to Xian from Beijing. We were thinking of taking the overnight train. We want to see the Terracotta Warriors and the pandas via a tour. Then back to Beijing on the high-speed train in the evening. Is this possible?

there is no problem to see Terracotta Warriors in Xian, but Pandas are in Chengdu, which is 15 hours train ride from Xian.

I am afraid that you can not get the 144 hour free visa in Xian.
