About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

mail-in authentication request

Hello. I am an American citizen and I have been living and working in China for fourteen years. This year, I am required to provide a Criminal History document in order to renew my work visa. I have obtained the official document from the F.B.I. and it has been authorised by the U.S. State Department. Now, I need to have it authorised by the Chinese Embassy. My question is this: I am requesting mail-back service for this authorisation, but your consulate only provides services for nine states. My US mailing address is in Colorado (which comes under your jurisdiction), but the F.B.I. document was issued in West Virginia. Do I send this to your consulate, or to the one that services West Virginia? Do I apply according to MY address or according to the issuing agency's address?
I await your prompt reply.

Kristin

Hi, if your document is authenticated by the relative Secretary of West Virginia, You may submit the documents directly to the Chinese embassy in Washington DC.
