About:Marriage Registration in China

When you apply for single status at the Chinese consulate do they do a search of marriage records?

Or do they just note the authentication of the notary and the government authentication?

They won't check your status. They just authenticate the paper after it has been attested by related American departments. If there is anything wrong, it should be the fault of the related departments.
