About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Do we need to get a original marriage certificate authenticated

Hi. Me and my wife are from India and we have come to dalian for 14 months. I have come on student visa X1 and my wife on Z1 as dependent. My college is doing all the formalities for my temporary resident permit. But they said that for my wife to apply for a temporary resisdent permit she must have a authetication of our marriage registry certificate and also need a relationship certificate which we will get from China Embassy in India. I have not heard of this requirement before and now since we both are in China its very dificult to get these certificates authenticated. Please advice if its required or we can directly apply for a temporary resident permit on our own as we have the original marriage registry certificate computer printed by govt of India

Hi, this is required if your wife needs to get residence permit. So you may send the marriage certificate to your family in India and ask them to handle the authentication from Chinese embassy on your behalf.

To get the marriage certificate notorized by the embassy, the photocopy got to be notorized first by MEA in India and before that the photocopy got to be notorized by the administrative department of the jurisdiction that issued the marriage certificate. MEA do not accept the original document directly but through their authorized agency, as mentioned in their website.
