how to apply for visa to attend a scientific conference in china

i will go to china to attend an international conference during 20-25 july 2014. should I go to china embassy to submit documents? what is the procedure? how to collect back the passport?

You need to apply for a business F type for this visit. You can either apply in person or by someone else entrusted. Appointment is not required so you can submit your application directly to the embassy. The regular processing takes 4 working days, so you can pick it up with the receipt form on the 4th working day of application.
