About:Jinshanling Great Wall

With all of the different information,is this the best option for getting to/from Jinshaling wall?

From Beijing-TAKE LINE 13 TO Wangjingxi WEST STATION. EXIT B.OR LINE 15,EXIT C.TAKE Jinshaling BUS AT 8AM,BUT GET OFF AT Jinshanling rest stop (19yuan W/beijing transport card, 32 W/O).If less than 20, all tourists will be arranged to take the public bus (Beijing - Luanping) and get off at Jinshanling Resting Area.TAKE FREE SHUTTLE BUS AT 10,11,1.OR TAXI TO WEST GATE. WALK TO EAST GATE TO EXIT.LAST BUS BACK TO REST STOP AT 3.LAST BUS TO BEIJING AT 4:30?

This is the best that I can come up with so far,but I have many questions still:

1)Is there a 7am bus ? I read about a bus from 7am-4pm going to Jinshaling rest area. Is this cancelled? I would love to leave earlier.
2) If I have to take the 8 am bus, will I make it on time for the 10 am shuttle? Or will the shuttle be operating without someone calling them and letting them know we are coming.Should this be a concern for me since I am going on a Monday?
3) I am going on a Monday. If there is less than 20 people and I need to take the public bus to Luanping and get off at the service station-will it take longer? More stops? Later departure time?
4) If I need to take a taxi to/from the service station to the ticket office, how much should I expect to pay? How far is it?
5)I would like to stay past the last bus (that I can find) back to Beijing at 4. Is there a later bus back to Beijing ?
Any info on going back later would be appreciated.

PART 2 OF MY QUESTIONS:

6)My intent is to hike from Jinshaling to Simatai. I have read that is is open.but I have also read that it is closed. Can I still hike from Jinshaling to simitai on the wall and exit Simatai and go back to Beijing?
7)If I can hike thru, how can I get back to Beijing easily and affordably?
8)Is the direct bus from Dongzhimen bus station to Jinshanling is definitely cancelled?
Thank you for your help. I LOVE your website. It is so helpful.

My answers:
1. There is just one special tourism bus that departs at 8:00 am from Wangjingxi to Jinshanling directly. I didn't hear about 7 am bus. The Beijing-Luanping public bus departs from 07:00 to 16:30 from Wangjingxi. It departs every one hour.
2. The special tourism bus that departs at 8:00 goes to Jinshanling GW directly. You won't be dropped at the resting area.
3. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach the resting area if you take Beijing-Luanping bus. It won't stop before you reach Jinshanling Resting area. As I said before, the earliest one departs at 07:00.
4. The drivers usually charge CNY 50. Too expensive. Someone walked from the resting area to the ticket office of Jinshanling GW. It takes 15 minutes. However, you may get lost if you are not familiar with the roads.
5. The last bus (Luanping to Beijing) departs at 16:00. It takes about an hour to reach Jinshanling resting area. I am afraid that you may not catch it. There is no later bus back t Beijing.
6. Hiking is impossible after Simatai section was reopened. There are guards who stand there to stop tourist who tried to hike from Jinshanling to Simatai.
8. Yes, there will be no more tourism bus from Dongzhimen to Jinshanling.

Thank you very much. Since I am going on a Monday, what do you think the odds are of there being 20 people on the tourist bus?
Both buses do not stop prior to the Jinshaling rest area, correct? So other than the 15-20 minute walk to the ticket office, there should be no time difference?? Other than the 1 hour difference in departure time? If I take the 7am bus to Luanping in,can I catch the tourist bus out or do I need a prior reservation/ticket?
The last bus from Luanping to Beijing is at 4pm. Where do I catch this at? in Luanping ? Will it stop at the rest area? Is that a regular stop? Or do I need to flag it down?
How could I tell that particular bus? does it have a # on it? Will it read "Beijing"?
Why are you afraid I might not catch this bus back? is it hard to catch? Easy to miss it?
Thank you very much

It's hard to say. Most people work on Monday. So there should be a few tourists who go to visit the wall. However, the high season is coming. Probably, you can meet up 20 passengers.

Yes, the buses don't stop before they reach the Jinshanling rest area. I am afraid you may not walk to the ticket office successfully because you are not familiar with the surroundings. According to its official website, the first free shuttle bus leaves at 10:00 from the Jinshanling rest area. If you take the first bus from Beijing to Luanping, I think you can catch it.

You should catch the last bus (Luanping to Beijing) at the Jinshanling rest area. It is a regular bus stop. However, I am not sure if you can catch it. If it departs according to the timetable, then it should arrive at the rest area around 17:00. I am not sure if you can get to the rest area before 17:00 unless you finish your trip early and take the shuttle bus that departs from Jinshanling at 15:00.

There is usually a board behind the bus's windshield, which clearly shows "where it is from and where it is going to arrive". Unfortunately, it's all written in Chinese. I don't know if you can read it. I wrote Beijing and Luanping in Pinyin. They are written as 北京 and 滦平. You may remember these two words. Hope you can catch the right bus with the help of these two words.

By the way, here is the phone number for the Jinshanling scenic area (86)0314-8830222. You may call them if you have further questions. However, I am not sure if they speak English.

Thank you very much. referring to this:

**********You should catch the last bus (Luanping to Beijing) at the Jinshanling rest area. ************

The distance between 15:00 shuttle bus origin and the 17:00 bus to Beijing at the rest stop-is the same 15-20 minute walk that you mentioned before?? So,I can start walking at 16:00 and be there very early for the Luanping-Beijing bus at the rest area. As long as I don't get lost. Or take a 10 minute taxi. Also, you said above that the last Luanping-Bejing bus from the rest area is at 16:00.This time is from Luanping, right? And it leaves the rest area at 17:00 ? Please correct me if I am wrong.Thank you again.

I am not sure it takes 15 to 20 minutes if you catch the shuttle bus from the wall to the rest area. As I said, it's just a short cut discovered by some people. So it should take longer time if you take the shuttle bus, I guess. There should be some taxis. However, I think they may charge you a higher price. According to the schedule, the last bus from Luanping departs at 16:00. However, the bus might depart early or late. If the bus departs at 16:00, then it should arrive around 17:00.

The high season is from March 16 to November 15. September is good. The temperature isn't high at that time. I think there will be more tha 20 passengers. The driver may wait up for more passengers if the number is less than 20, I guess.
