About:Adopt Chinese Children

Hi, Can I adopt my brother-in-law's kid?

I am British. My wife is Chinese. We have a kid ourselves. My brother-in-law and his wife want us to adopt their child. My wife is for it and I don't really mind either way. Is the process the same or different because it doesn't seem to fit in with anything above.

It's different. According to what I find, your brother-in-law and his wife should provide the certificate that they are incapable of raising that kid and an agreement that they both agree to let you and your wife adopt their kid. As for other requirements, I suggest you ask your brother-in-law and his wife to consult with the local civil affairs bureau.
