PingYao to Xi'an fee higher than train price?

Our service fee is between $5-$8, but the sleeper tickets from Pingyao to Xian is an exception. That is because Pingyao is a small station and it is impossible to get a sleeper tickets from the station. So the ticket we book for you is actually from Taiyuan to Xian. We will arrange our local agency in Taiyuan to book the ticket for you and send the ticket to Pingyao railway station and give it to the station officer in advance. You will still take the train from Pingyao, but with the copy of the ticket. Therefore, the service fee is higher than other tickets.
If you don't want to pay the high service fee, we suggest that you can take a bus or train from Pingyao to Taiyuan and then an overnight sleeper train to Xian.
We also have a good news that the high-speed train between Xian and Taiyuan with stopover at Pingyao is going to put into service on July 1st. You can then take it from Pingyao to Xian, which takes only 2 - 3 hours. The service fee will be normal ones, $5 - $8. The ticket prices and timetable will be released by the end of this month, so you may book ticket on this train.
