About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Entrance visa using 台胞証 at port Tianjin.

My wife and I will arrive port Tianjin on a cruise ship in October. Can we get an entrance visa at the port using Taibaocheng, or 台胞証 like we have done it many times at the Beijing and Shanghai airport?

Yes, it is ok, you can get visa at the port without problem as long as your Taibaozheng is valid.

Thank you. Just want to make sure. It is at the Tianjin International Cruise Port, not at the airport. Also, the cruise arrive at 6:00 am. Are they open by then?

I'm on the same cruise ship arriving in Tianjin on 10/7 at 6:00 AM.
It will be our first trip to China and I'm uncertain about whether I need to get a Visa
and, if so, how to do it. We live in NY State but going to NY City for a personal visit
might be difficult. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi TenleyTai, as I know, this only can be done at airport. So you are advised to apply for it in advance in order to avoid any hassle.

Bill, you are also advised to apply for a Chinese tourist L in advance for this trip. If you can not visit NY consulate in person, you can entrust someone else or a travel agency to handle it on your behalf.

Stuart, thank you for your reply. I'm arranging with the representatives of the cruise
line to get our Visas.
