About:China Customs Declaration

5,000 USD per person or per family?

Hello, My wife and I will be leaving China in a few weeks. We have more than 5,000 USD to bring out with us. Can my wife and I each carry out 5,000 USD? If not, will declaring the excess amount cause a lot of trouble? It's around 8,000 USD total.

Brian, 5000 USD limit is for each person. You and your wife can split 8000 USD into two parts and bring it separately.
