U.S. Citizen with Thailand Tourist Visa Applying for Chinese L type?

Hello, I am a U.S. Citizen and will be visiting Bangkok on a 30-day tourist stamp. Is it possible for me to apply for a Chinese L type at the embassy in Bangkok? One of the requirements says: "5. Foreign citizens should provide valid Thai visa or residence permit or other document to prove their legal status." Is the stamp I will get on arrival enough for this requirement?

Yes, you can apply for that with your tourist stamp. It's regarded as the legal status.
