D train express service

Does the D train from Beijing to Dalian (express fast train) has power outlets and wifi? I heard there is wifi as of January 2014. Also what is the main difference between first and second class? The fare is just 100 rmb more. I traveled 12 hours on a normal seating from Beijing to Dalian and it was horrible!!!!! I need to go to Beijing express trip to get a visa and leave my passport there so I need to return to Dalian same day. I would rather take the express than the soft /hard sleeper, but I want some feedback on how are seats first second class and if it is comfortable... (i do not like Chinese crowds!)

Hi I used to travel by rail when i did not have my passport and the copy was ok to pick up and buy ticket at railway station DO I need now the original passport to board the train?! Thanks

There is power outlets but not wifi.
both first class and second class are comfortble, but the frist class seat is more spacious (especially leg room) and comfortable than the second class.
now you need the original passport to purchase the ticket and board the train.

Passport original to board train
Are you 100% positive that foreigners need the original passport to board a train? I have done it actually last Year and it was fine.

there is a new identity verification policy this year that passengers need to have their identity checked before purchasing or collecting tickets. Foreign passengers have to do the verification at railway stations.
plus, the security check at railway stations is very strict, so you may be asked to show your passport at the entrance of a station or inside a carriage.
but, i don't think there is problem for you. you have your passport from Dalian to Beijing. to apply the visa, you will get a notice or some paper work which will do the explanation if you are asked to present your passport for the return trip to Dalian.
You just need to remember to collect or purchase the tickets for both ways with your passport in Dalian.
